I've many friends but only a handful of which do I trust not to use my closest secrets against me, intentionally or otherwise. That isn't intended as a slight to the balance of my friends but let's be honest; we ALL have secrets "or skeletons in our closets" and others are seldom as careful with those secrets as we ourselves are motivated to be. There are things some among my friends (present and former) have shared with me that I'll take to my grave. That's the way it should be, in my opinion. In most instances these secrets were the culmination of a moment where they needed somebody to talk to; I was there and now that the conversation is over, it's in the past and buried as it should be.

I don’t know where to begin here…

First off I came upon your site when looking to find out the truth behind the crazy bloated Michelle Obama vacation email and couldn’t believe that you guys just took it as gospel.

To address your views better, in order to get a grasp of what our political leaders are doing you must listen to the media, read as many of the latest political best sellers and check the facts on reputable sites. There is no other way to really understand how well a leader or president is doing than be subject to the nonsense of left and right wing crazies.

On health care reform, yes the best health care plan would be a single payer program eliminating the need for private insurance altogether and working just short of being totally socialized. Watch CNN Fareed Zakaria on this subject he nails it to the cross. Successes in Switzerland and Taiwan and even in Camden NJ shows how a fine tuned health care system works. Obamacare is very close to this single payer model and perhaps as we watch it grow will move there taking care of all our problems. In Zakaria’s show he points out that 5% of the population creates 50% of all our health care costs, such a huge bell ringer. Furthermore those who do not have insurance all health care providers pay in the multiple of billions causing the rest of us to pay even more, way more if they were mandated to buy insurance. Insurance BTW that would be tax credited based on your income at tax time.

On Obama’s ability to legislate, all past Congresses need be ignored since the right is TOTALLY out of control with all their nonsensical filibustering obstruction. Had all the 300+ House bills passed by the Democratic Congress and were made into law our world would be totally differently, in the positive!

Obama’s leadership in the Middle East has also been quite commendable with getting out of Iraq and finding Osama Bin Laden, not to mention his role towards killing Khadafy. The list of his accomplishments goes on and on, and you REALLY need to know that very few presidents have much to say on what they did. You have to go back to FDR who won four terms to touch upon such volumes of work when considering all of the serious warring political and economic priorities.

On unemployment, no one wants the real fix here which is a movement to the left. Yes left, the root cause of why our jobs are offloading abroad is purely a case of Americans making waaay too much money in ALL classes to compete with the global market’s cheap labor. The right cries that it’s all because of a debt problem, totally ludicrous. Balancing the budget would plummet this country into a depression with very massive unemployment rates. Why? Because over the past 30 years or so the government has been propping up business by spreading the wealth. Take away spending and we’re done since to root cause goes uncontested. Also, no president or candidate will fix our unemployment woes unit we are ready to takeover businesses that thwart our BASIC NEEDS, the number one being ENERGY. Until all energy is under the ownership of the government we will always, yes always pay more as victims of the Middle East OPEC oil dominance.

BTW on the Michelle expense thing, no brainer total BS. Common sense should tell you that the numbers are bloated beyond recognition and when compared to past presidents adding in inflation the Obamas have paid less. See Snopes…

ROFLMAO! Just goes to show that I am an "equal opportunity offender." Having registered as a Democrat years ago (and voting the party line for the presidential ticket in every election, save the last one) … I'm hardly conservative. Nor do I consider myself a moron.

The truth of the matter is, Larry, that I don't accept everything that I read or hear in the news as being the unvarnished truth. You shouldn't either. It seems that you've adopted the "Barack can do nothing wrong" attitude that many of my gay and/or liberal friends are overcome with. I'm sorry but though I respect the man for [finally] following through on getting DADT repealed, there are many things he's done that I take great exception with. For instance, his health care reform is FAR FROM PERFECT. (In fact, as one who has lost his job not once but thrice in the last four years due to layoffs — I'm dependent on govt. assistance for the very meds that I require to stay alive. That assistance is now being affected in a negative manner by the very reforms the LGBT community seems so proud and ready to embrace so no, I'm hardly happy with the job that our Commander in Chief has done.)

Furthermore, my opinion of his wife is akin to that I have of white trailer trash. She's hardly a person to look up to and certainly worthy of a lot of the bad press that has been heaped upon her (imo).

As far as I am concerned the only person that prevents Barack Obama from being considered the worst president this country has seen in over a hundred years is the fact that he was preceded in office by that nitwit, George W. Bush.

But hey, you are welcome to share your opinions here. Just remember, no personal attacks (which your last comment pretty much is but I'm going to go ahead and leave it up there for others to respond to if they should feel similarly motivated to reply).

Namaste,
Michael

I fully agree with your comments on using protection etc in your comments. You use good sense in them as well. While there may be a cure in the very near future you can never know so what you say makes good sense. I hope others heed your advice.

Good grief, are all of you morons or something? This tawdry litle story is obviously false. No way did their vacations costs ever come close to a million a year let alone $2 billion. I would love to have you come by my neck of the woods so I can sell you the Brooklyn Bridge.

BTW ALL vacation accommodations and activities were paid for by the Obamas. Yes costs for operating presidential transport and any assigned agent as required by secret service procedures were paid with taxpayer money. Every president as far back as Washington had vacations where the burden of the cost was shared as applicable with themselves and the taxpayers. Because Obama is president does this mean he or his family is not supposed to take any vacations?

Again so gullible to take in right wing lies and nonsense

It wasn't intended to hurt; it was an observation. Not everything is about you or I or any person in particular. You accuse me of writing about my "feelings" all of the time and yet, you do the same thing (under the guise of research). That's fine; it doesn't bother me because I think it's "good" to be able to feel and talk about what we're experiencing. What I take exception to is having accusations thrown at me and words stuffed in my mouth that I never uttered, sometimes (often) simply because you didn't take the time to read what I'd actually said.

I have cut you a lot of slack over the past year or so because I recognize that you're Italian, English is your second language and you sometimes don't recognize the subtle nuances or slang even, of the language (or it could just be a "regional" thing that contributes to the misunderstandings).

But while I have often held my tongue (you won't agree, most likely) on some things as they pertain to the Catholic Church — you've never been able to give the same consideration as regards homosexual advocacy groups who are simply trying to make lives better for LGBTQ persons (and by "better" I ONLY mean "of the same quality as most heterosexuals might enjoy, as heterosexuality is usually considered the 'norm' by comparison to homosexuality").

Anyway, you're going to read into this whatever you will and reach your own conclusions - be they accurate or otherwise.

Take care.
